Adrian Raya was born in Michoacan, Mexico. He obtained his B.F.A. from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Raya was recently the painting teacher at Gateway High School in Aurora, Colorado. He has participated in various group shows across Arvada, Aurora, Boulder, Denver, and Longmont, along with being part of NYFA’s first Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program in Denver. Raya is an educator-artist working in a range of media that encompasses, but is not limited to, painting, ceramics, drawing, sculpture, and installation. Raya presents a satirical rewriting of a vital role for Latinx individuals north of the Mexico/U.S. border.
